Using Dreamweaver to Create your Own Website

We will be using a program called Dreamweaver to create our own website. For the information and tutorial sheets, go to the following folders

W:\Professional Studies\Professional Studies\CIPS\ICT\KS3\Autumn\Year 8 Autumn 2_2013-2014\Dreamweaver

Please follow these steps before you open Dreamweaver:
  1. Create a new folder in your documents and call it mywebsite (notice that I have not used capital letters and there is no space between the two words)
  2. In your mywebsite folder, create another folder called images
HANDY TIP 1: All of your pages and images must be saved in these folders when you complete work on Dreamweaver otherwise, they will not appear.

Now open Dreamweaver by going to All Programs\CS3 Master Collection\Adobe Dreamweaver CS3

Now, you need to follow the detailed instructions on the PDF file to start building your own website. Please remember to have a homepage that links to other pages that you are going to build. Your homepage should include the name of the website, a description of the website and provide links to other pages (your own pages are called 'internal links' pages on the internet are called 'external links').

HANDY TIP 2: Make sure that you get the layout exactly how you want it before making other pages. This is because you can use your homepage as a template for your other pages.

Here are some good 'buttons' to include on your homepage that you will be able to click to link to your other pages (or you can find / make your own):
